Scott Eby, the convict who admitted to the heinous murder of 3-year-old Riley Fox, has recently passed away while serving a life sentence at the Menard Correctional Center in Illinois.

The tragic case unfolded in June 2004 when Riley Fox vanished from her home in Wilmington. Her lifeless body was discovered in a creek, situated approximately four miles away from her residence. Initially, Riley’s father faced wrongful arrest in connection to her disappearance. However, subsequent DNA evidence exonerated him from any involvement.

In a startling turn of events, Scott Eby came forward in 2010 with a shocking confession. He admitted to breaking into the Fox family home, abducting Riley, subjecting her to a horrifying sexual assault, and ultimately ending her life after his face-covering bandana slipped off, revealing his identity.

At the time of his confession, Eby was already incarcerated for a separate sexual assault case. Upon admitting to Riley’s murder, he faced charges of first-degree murder and predatory sexual assault. He pleaded guilty and received a life sentence without the possibility of parole, marking the culmination of a harrowing chapter in the Fox family’s ordeal.
