Authorities in Romania announced the seizure of commodities and money worth 18 million lei ($3.95 million) as part of a criminal investigation into alleged people trafficking that resulted in the arrest of polarising online celebrity Andrew Tate.
The National Agency for the Management of Seized Items announced late Saturday that it had put into administration 29 moveable assets, including luxury cars and watches, as well as varied sums of cash in various currencies, in the previous week.
A Reuters reporter witnessed six automobiles, including a Rolls-Royce, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, being taken from Tate’s estate on the outskirts of Bucharest and brought to a storage place on Saturday.
Andrew Tate, his brother, and two Romanian female suspects were arrested on December 29 on suspicion of organizing a criminal gang in order to sexually abuse six women. They’ve both denied any misconduct.
The detainees disputed their 30-day arrest order, but the Bucharest court of appeals dismissed the petition last week, ruling that they should stay in police custody.
