Arrest warrants were issued for Capps, charging him with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault. In response, three SWAT officers were sent to Capps’ home to apprehend him.

When the officers approached the house, Capps reportedly opened the front door with a pistol in hand. One of the officers perceived Capps as posing an immediate, imminent threat and fired, causing Capps to die at the scene.
