Tuesday saw the announcement of the 23rd Latin Grammy Award nominees, as Bad Bunny finished off a scorching summer.
With 10 nominations, including album of the year, the Puerto Rican rapper and vocalist received the most nominations of any other artist.
Rosalia and Alejandro Rauw each received eight nominations. Jorge Drexler and Christina Aguilera both had seven more.
The last time Aguilera won a Latin Grammy was in 2001 for “Mi Reflejo,” her debut Spanish-language album, which won for the best female pop vocal album.
Last year, Aguilera sang her single “Pa’ mis muchachas” on the Latin Grammy stage for the first time in 20 years with Becky G, Nicki Nicole, and Nathy Peluso.
The nominations for this year’s awards showcase the variety of Latin music. Although urban and reggaeton have dominated the music industry over the past few years and will undoubtedly be represented at the awards, other genres like pop, salsa, and alternative are present in all of the major categories.
