As a child, I spent a lot of time on a small, isolated island off the west coast of Scotland.
By the time I was eight years old, my family had constructed a tiny stone house on the island, and thanks to the boat, we were able to catch almost enough fish to last the entire summer.

“From that point on, we stayed on the island for two weeks in the spring and four weeks in the summer every year. I spent a lot of time drawing and composing stories because the house had candlelight, no phone, and no television.
