Rakim Mayers, better known as A$AP Rocky, was born in Harlem on October 3, 1988. In July of 2012, Rocky was a featured performer at the Pitchfork Music Festival. He was due to make his television debut on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon later that month, but was arrested the night before on suspicion of participating in a fight. “Long. Live. A$AP,” Rocky’s debut album, was released in 2013 and was a critical and commercial success upon its release. He went on a 40-city nationwide tour in support of the record. Rocky’s second studio album, “A.L.L.A,” was leaked online on May 25, 2015, one week before its scheduled release. This followed the release of two successful singles in 2014. Reviews for his second album were mostly excellent, and it went straight to the top of the Billboard 200 with its premiere. However. Sales of A.L.L.A. rapidly dropped, making it his lowest-selling album ever.
In 2018, Rocky worked on the song “Cocky” alongside Gucci Mane and 21 Savage to promote the movie Uncle Drew. In 2018, he dropped two singles: Bad Company on March 27 and A$AP Forever on April 5. Testing, his newest album, was released on May 25, 2018, and immediately shot to No. 4 on the Billboard 200. A$AP has worked with several different musicians, including Tyler, the Creator, Drake, Kid Cudi, Frank Ocean, and Lana Del Ray, over the years.
