Overwatch 2 is getting ready to launch a new Season of content. Season 3 is coming to a close with the One Punch Man crossover event and the Pachimarchi event in March. These festivities will soon come to an end, signaling the advent of Season 4.

Overwatch 2

Season 3 of Overwatch 2 added a tonne of new content to the game, including a new map and several new limited-time events. The one thing it didn’t deliver was a new hero, which has some thinking one may arrive early in Season 4. This new hero will very certainly be a Support hero, although it is unclear if they will be an established figure from Overwatch’s narrative or a new one.

Overwatch 2 Season 4 Release Date

Blizzard has previously said that an Overwatch season lasts around 9 weeks. Having said that, Season 4 of Overwatch 2 is likely to start on April  11 or 12 2023, though nothing has been confirmed.

Assuming Season 3 lasts 64 days (like Seasons 1 and 2), we may anticipate Season 3 to expire on April 11, 2023, which is also the start date for Season 4.

Of course, for the time being, this is only conjecture, so make sure to check back frequently to see if this date has been verified.

Overwatch 2 Season 4 New Hero

According to Blizzard, the next two characters in Overwatch 2 will be support heroes, with the first appearing in Season 4. They also stated that the next Support Hero will add something entirely fresh to the Overwatch 2 lineup.

Overwatch 2 season 4

Although Overwatch 2 Season 4 will not be released for quite some time, we do have a solid idea of what to expect in terms of new characters.

In a blog post created by Blizzard, the company confirmed the following:

“New heroes will typically come out every alternate season, except for Season One and Two, which will each feature a new hero. After that, we are planning a new hero in Season Four and Season Six.”

That means we need to put our thinking hat on to find out who the 5th new hero to be added in Season 4 may be. It’s likely to be one of the names mentioned/teased in the game earlier, so here are a few possibilities:

  • Mauga – a former friend of Baptiste seen in the ‘What We Left Behind’ Short.
  • Maximilien – The wealthy Omnic who launders money for Talon.
  • Storm Rising Omnic Ramattra – Seen at the end of the ‘Storm Rising’ cinematic mission and possible leader of the extremist group Null Sector. [Update – Confirmed during Overwatch League Finals to be the new hero coming to Overwatch 2 Season 2]
  • D.Mon – Real name Yuna Lee. A member of the MEKA Squad alongside D.Va.
  • Overlord – Real name Seung-hwa Shi. Another member of MEKA Squad alongside D.Va.
  • Zephyrus – A gladiator seen in multiple posters and images around the Overwatch 2 map Colosseo.

Season 4 Map Changes For Overwatch 2

There are many distinct maps in the game since the introduction of the Artic Peninsula map. Yet, this does not imply that all maps are created equal. Overwatch 2 has a plethora of map types, which implies that certain game modes are more popular than others.

Blizzard has stated that this will change in the future. Overwatch 2 will now include map pools. This implies that only specific maps will now be available while playing online. This is to ensure that the games in Overwatch 2 seem diversified rather than dominated by a single game mode.

Season 4 Battle Pass for Overwatch 2

It’s too early to say what we may anticipate in reality. While the game is still in early access, Blizzard may change the kind of awards available.

For the time being, we expect it to be comparable to the benefits granted in the game’s first Battle Pass, with a free track and a premium track with greater incentives.
