Fans of high-stakes family dramas like Succession and Empire, as well as business and political intrigue, will enjoy Power, a Starz smash that aired from 2014 through 2020.
There have been a number of spinoffs from Power, and if you haven’t been watching them, now could be a good time to do so.
The other two Power spin-off series are Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book IV: Force, with Power Book III: Raising Kanan about to enter its second season.
The prequel series Raising Kanan depicts the adolescence of Kanan Stark (50 Cent’s character in the first Power).
Kanan was the rival and former buddy of Ghost, the main character in the original Power series. Kanan’s climb to power is fascinating even with the knowledge of how the story ends.
Here’s everything you need to know about Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 2.
Power: Raising Kanan Season 2 Release Date
Here’s some excellent news: production has begun on Season 2! On Sunday, August 14, 2022, the episodes will begin to premiere on STARZ (and STARZPlay in the UK). They’ll be on every week.
Due to the team’s high level of confidence, season two was announced in July 2021, a full week before the premiere of the first season.
The new episodes will be ready sooner than expected because the cast started recording them towards the end of that month.
“One season isn’t enough to portray the coming of age narrative of Kanan Stark and his mother, Raq, a feisty and powerful woman who is a force of nature,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, president, and CEO of Starz.
Given the worldwide interest in the Power Universe, it’s obvious that the Kanan saga must progress.
The only other information we have is that the new season will premiere in 2022.
Since new editions of the other novels in the series are also overdue, it’s probable that Raising Kanan will be published in the summer, around the same time as season one (July–September).
Keep checking back with us, and we’ll let you know the minute we get any new information.

What Is Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 2 About?
The first season of Raising Kanan, which took place in the early 1990s in Queens, followed Kanan as he was a teenager and his family.
Kanan’s mother Raq has worked hard to advance the family’s position in the drug trade, and her son is eager to take on a larger role in the business.
But by the end of Season 1, everything has crumbled and Kanan has been forced to depart the area after shooting a police officer.
The second season begins immediately after the end of the first, with Kanan having returned to Queens to be with his family, only to find that his mother has abandoned him and his naive expectations of the privileged life he was raised in have been destroyed.
“The foundation of Kanan and Raq’s relationship has been damaged, at this point,” Kanan’s actress Mekai Curtis told PopSugar, “and it really gets to a boiling point — just the edginess and the intensity that’s there.”
In addition, Kanan’s connection with Detective Howard, the officer he shot and left for dead, will get more screen time in the upcoming second season, as well as Detective Howard’s struggle to balance his duties to the police department and his knowledge that Kanan is his biological son.
The second season will feature expanded roles for Unique and New Jersey Mafia. Raq, Kanan, and the rest of the family appear to be facing a number of challenges this season, both from within and without the family.
