Created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, City on Fire is an upcoming crime drama television series for Apple TV+. Schwartz and Savage have also served as executive producers of the show along with Lis Rowinski and Jesse Peretz.
Since the cast was announced and production had begun, spectators have been eagerly anticipating developments on Apple TV+’s spectacular City on Fire adaptation from Searching for Alaska pair Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.
Nevertheless, on the penultimate day of the TCA 2023 Winter Press Tour, Apple officially disclosed the date the murder mystery series will debut on their streaming service. They also unveiled the first image from the upcoming adaption, which will feature Wyatt Oleff, Chase Sui Wonders, and other cast members.
The eight-episode show will premiere with three episodes on May 12 and continue with new episodes every Friday through June 16.
What is City On Fire based upon?
Apple’s most recent original drama is based on the critically praised 2003 Fourth of July shooting in Central Park, which is the subject of the drama’s adaptation. The victim whose life is tragically cut short that evening is NYU student Samantha Cicciaro (Wonders).
She had just left her friends’ band’s performance at her favorite bar for a little while to meet someone when she was gunned down and, as she was alone with very little physical evidence at the scene, the prospects of getting justice are minimal to nothing.
The investigation is only made more challenging when it turns out that she is a vital link between a string of mysterious citywide fires, the downtown music scene, and a wealthy uptown real estate family under pressure to keep the skeletons in their closet hidden.
City on Fire season 1 cast
In the debut season, Wyatt Oleff portrays Charlie, Samantha Cicciaro is played by Chase Sui Wonders, Regan is played by Jemima Kirke, and William is played by Nico Tortorella.
The cast also includes Alexander Pineiro as Sol, John Cameron Mitchell as Armory, Xavier Clyde as Mercer, Max Milner as Nicky Chaos, Alexandra Doke as Sewer Girl, Omid Abtahi as Detective Ali Parsa, Kathleen Munroe as Detective PJ McFadden, and Ashley Zukerman as Keith.
