Mary Jane Blige is an American singer, songwriter, and actress who was born on January 11, 1971. Blige, who is frequently described as the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul,” has won 10 Billboard Music Awards, four American Music Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and nine Grammy Awards.
She was the first person to be nominated for both acting and songwriting in the same year when she received nominations for both her supporting role in the 2017 film Mudbound and for its original song “Mighty River.”

When Blige finally filed for divorce in 2016, she alleged in court documents acquired by People magazine that Isaacs had spent more than $420,000 on “travel charges” involving a woman he was having an affair with during their marriage. She added that he lavishly spent money on other girlfriends.
Blige alleged that Isaacs was operating a Mercedes for which she had already pre-paid the lease and that he had withheld her “Grammy[s] and other achievement prizes.”

Just hours before the 2018 Academy Awards, when Blige was nominated in the acting and songwriting categories for Mudbound, the divorce between Blige and Isaacs was officially finalized.
2017 saw the release of Mary J. Blige’s twelfth album, Strength of a Woman, which was devoted to the ups and downs she had experienced since splitting from her longtime husband.

Personal Life
Blige dated R&B singer Cedric “K-Ci” Hailey of the Jodeci group for six years in the 1990s. In a 1995 interview with Blige for the UK television program The Word, Hailey refuted rumors that the two were planning a wedding. Blige’s album My Life was inspired by their tumultuous relationship.
On December 7, 2003, Blige wed Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, her manager.
