Kanye “Ye” West has withdrawn from Rolling Loud Miami, so Kid Cudi has stepped in to headline the three-day festival. Twitter announced West’s departure on Sunday, and Rolling Loud explained that it was due to “circumstances outside of our control.”
“As a result of unforeseen circumstances, Ye will no longer be appearing at Rolling Loud Miami 2022. Please feel free to join us.
@KiDCuDi, I’m following you now! “A photo of the amended festival line-up, which includes Cudi as Friday night’s headliner, was tweeted by the event’s organizers.
Future, Kendrick Lamar, Saweetie, and a host of other artists will perform at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium beginning July 22.
Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler, Rolling Loud’s co-founders, explained West’s last-minute resignation in a statement to Deadline.
“Ye was supposed to headline Rolling Loud Miami 2022, and it was exciting to us. We worked on the performance for months with him and his crew.
The unfortunate news is that Ye has decided to stop performing “in a joint statement, they added “The headliner has never pulled off our event before, and while we don’t take it lightly, we wish him the best of luck in his future career endeavors.
When Kid Cudi performs in Miami, we’re excited to see what he has in store for us.”
Kid Cudi and West have a long history together, so this is an interesting move. In the wake of Cudi’s connection with Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson, who is engaged to West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian, Cudi and West had a public disagreement.
Cudi, Davidson, and Timothée Chalamet were pictured eating dinner together in a now-deleted Instagram photo by Kanye West. A large red ex was placed over Davidson’s face on the picture from the dinner.
Next to the since-deleted post, West wrote, “I JUST WANTED MY FRIEND TO HAVE MY BACK. “THE KNIFE JUST GOES IN DEEPER.”
It was revealed that Cudi will not be appearing on West’s Donda 2 album earlier in the evening after the rapper appeared to maintain his ties with longtime friend Davidson.
Because he’s pals with Billie, Cudi will not appear on DONDA.
Cudi defended himself in the comments section, writing: “Then he continued, “everyone knows I’ve been the best thing about your records since I met you. so bad I don’t want to be on your album, you fu**n dinosaur hahaha. Please pray for my 4 brothers.”
West’s Instagram attacks on Davidson, Machine Gun Kelly, Billie Eilish, and others have included several rants about Cudi.
After signing Cudi to his Good Music label in 2008, West helped launch Cudi’s career. Before he left Good Music in 2013, Cudi released three studio albums under the imprint: Man on the Moon: The End of Day, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, and Indicud.
On Pusha T’s It’s Almost Dry earlier this year, Cudi and West collaborated on a tune, which Cudi indicated was his last with West, following their break-up earlier in the year.
