Chrishell Stause and Justin Hartley of Selling Sunset and This Is Us are no longer together after divorcing a year ago. the couple was married for three years.
There are rumours regarding their breakup and current love lives as both celebrities make frequent red carpet and TV appearances (and as new episodes of Selling Sunset become available to view).
With his future wife, the actress Sofia Pernas, by his side, Justin made his red carpet debut at the MTV Movie & TV Awards in May 2021 and dropped the bombshell news that they were engaged.
After fans spotted rings on “that” finger, rumours spread that the couple had secretly tied the knot. The pair had been publicly dating for five months, but wedding plans were still sketchy.
Thereafter, Chrishell and her colleagues from Selling Sunset went to the same event. “Chrishell has moved on with her life” and “is looking forward to new beginnings,” said another source close to the situation.
(Consider an increase in reality TV seasons and a surge in the sale price of mansions.) Not everything went down in front of the cameras, so here’s what we know about Chrishell and Justin’s split:
Why Did Chrishell and Justin Divorce in The First Place?
After only two years of marriage, Us Weekly reports that Justin Harley filed for divorce from Chrishell in November of 2019. He said that the couple had split up on July 8 due to irreconcilable issues. Chrishell stated that they separated on the date Justin filed, but the actual date of their divorce is unknown.
According to Us Weekly, the pair tied the knot in October 2017 after being together for four years. A whole two years passed between their engagement and wedding. Furthermore, Justin had previously been married to Lindsay Hartley from 2004 till 2012.
Chrishell was completely blindsided by the divorce papers, which she discussed at length during the third season of Selling Sunset (more on that in a sec).

Justin Hartley Made the Decision without Chrishell Stause’s Knowledge
Most accounts of Chrishell Stause’s divorce state that her husband, Justin Hartley, initiated the split.
As seen in a sneak peek for Season 3 of Selling Sunset that was posted by Netflix and shared by Us Weekly in May of 2020, Stause was seen crying while discussing Hartley’s departure with co-star and fellow real estate agent Mary Fitzgerald.
It’s a lot to take in because everyone around the world finds out at once, as Stause put it. “This was my best friend, and I love him very much. Where do I go from here?”
Hartley’s sudden and totally unannounced divorce filing from his second wife caught everyone by surprise, not just Stause. In an interview with Express, Amanza Smith, Smith’s co-star in Selling Sunset, said, “When we all found out we all sobbed for her because up until that day we would look at them as the pair that, you know, people say like hashtag goals, they were goals.”
Smith continued by saying that the couple’s relationship appeared stable until Hartley’s sudden decision to end it “She was obviously completely smitten with him, as evidenced by the fact that he brought her coffee every day at work; together, they were a strange and melancholy sight.
I was there on the day she left the apartment she shared with Justin, and it was horrible.”

Chrishell Claims Justin Texted Her the News of The Split
Chrishell reveals to her co-star Mary Fitzgerald that Justin broke up with her via text message in season 3 episode 6. “He informed me via text message that we had been arrested. After 45 minutes, the entire world was aware, “The news of Justin’s divorce file was initially reported in a TMZ article, which Chrishell cites.
Justin Hartley’s New Girlfriend Was Apparently Chrishell Stause’s Friend
What’s most shocking about the news of Justin Hartley’s divorce from Chrishell Stause is that he was reportedly already seeing someone else only six months after filing for divorce.
TMZ published a photo of Hartley kissing a mystery woman in May of 2020; the woman turned out to be Sofia Pernas, his former co-star on The Young and the Restless.
Since Stause joined the cast of The Young and the Restless in 2016, Hartley’s on-screen girlfriend Pernas had to quit their relationship. In 2016, he was even featured in an Instagram post by Pernas.
The two “are newly dating and loving their time together,” a source told Entertainment Tonight, adding that they “got to know one another better” while “[spending] time together throughout quarantine.”
The U.S. Sun, however, said that when their time on the show ended, Pernas and Stause were “close friends” who maintained in touch.
The outlet also reported that both Pernas and Stause commented on each other’s Instagram postings, which seems suspicious given that Hartley is reportedly seeing a friend of his ex-girlfriend’s.
Chrishell, who has apparently stopped following Pernas on Instagram, is reportedly “upset” at Hartley’s new connection, according to an ET insider, “but she realises they both need to move on.”
