How Did Jack Harlow Get His Start in Music?
“Way Out” rapper has been writing and recording music for a long time before his debut studio album was ever published.
When Jack was 12, he and his middle school classmate, Copelan Garvey, recorded their first tracks on a laptop using a Guitar Hero microphone. Their CD, entitled Rippin’ and Rappin’, was sold by the buddies to their fellow students at Highland Middle School in Kentucky.
Mr. Harlow was the pseudonym that Jack used when he recorded his first mixtape, Extra Credit, in the seventh grade. He went on to produce two mixtapes with the aid of buddies.

“Dua Lipa” rapper The Handsome Harlow debuted in November 2015 with the release of his first commercial EP. Aside from the Mercury Ballroom and Headliners, Jack began performing at other locations while he was still in high school. Vince Staples even had him open for him at one of his concerts in Louisville.
When he graduated from high school in June of 2016, the Kentucky native released his first mixtape, 18. Continue to release singles and perform at events such as Bonnaroo Music Festival, SXSW, and Forecastle Festival.
It wasn’t always easy for him to get to where he is now. A Chick-fil-A at the Georgia State University cafeteria became his primary source of income once he moved to Atlanta in 2018.
After meeting DJ Dream, the “First Class” singer signed with Don Cannon’s Generation Now label in August 2018. Prior to the release of the EP Sweet Action, Jack released many songs including Loose, his first significant mixtape. The EP’s first hit, “What’s Poppin,” was extensively shared on TikTok and introduced Jack to a new audience.

Coming out in December 2020 and May 2022, he released That’s What They All Say and Come Home The Kids Miss You respectively.
The financial success of Jack has been accompanied by a number of award nominations. For his work on Lil Nas X’s Montero, he was nominated for Album of the Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, and Best Rap Performance at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

After proving himself as a rapper, Jack is now seeking a career as an actor. His first acting role was revealed in March 2022 in a remake of White Men Can’t Jump.
Woody Harrelson, who starred in the original film, offered his seal of approval to Jack when he spoke to Yahoo! in June 2022. It’s a terrific feeling, he remarked. “Jack is going to crush it, in my opinion. Their film will be better than ours. Watching it is on my list of things to do.”
