For the past two decades, viewers have been tuning in to see young singles compete for love on The Bachelor and its spinoffs.

Some savvy movements candidates might make to improve their prospects on the season, such as saying you’re there for the right reasons and avoiding the turmoil, have been picked up on by long-time fans or, sometimes, cause drama.

In other words, if you’re well-prepared for Bachelor Nation, your chances of winning should go up.

The answer is no. When it comes to getting themselves into trouble on The Bachelorette, presenter Jesse Palmer shared his thoughts with CinemaBlend ahead of the upcoming 19th season.

From his debut on Clayton Echard’s season of The Bachelor, Jesse Palmer will host the spinoff The Bachelorette with Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia.

After only a short time working behind the scenes on the hit reality dating program, he’s learned that some contestants go into the season with preconceived notions of how it will proceed. In an interview with Sean O’Connell of CinemaBlend, Palmer said:

As the former Season 5 Bachelor, Jesse Palmer is the first to admit that a lot has changed since his time on the show.

Until recently, social media didn’t exist to the extent that it does today, allowing fans to see into the workings of their favorite shows.

Regardless of whether or not a contender makes it to the finals, social media has elevated the stakes for them.

Some cast members, however, have clearly shot themselves in the foot with their pre-show prep, which the first-time Bachelorette presenter warned about.

When co-hosts Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams discovered an actual playbook among Ryan Fox’s possessions on Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette, they sent him home early.

There were lists of past contestants to imitate, common show lines, and other acting advice in the book, which Fox said was prepared by a friend and not by him.

On the Bachelor in Paradise show, Brendan Morais was exposed for having a connection with Pieper James before the show, but they still went to Paradise.

The criticism was particularly harsh on Morais, who was accused of using other players to prolong their time in Mexico so that James could arrive.

Season 19 of The Bachelorette, on the other hand, maybe a completely different story.

When The Bachelorette returns with a double-headliner season featuring two women who won’t be competing against each other for love, it’s probable that the program will have to make significant modifications to its formula, including filming some of the seasons on board a cruise ship.

To find out if anyone from Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia’s season suffers from too much pre-gaming, we don’t have much longer to wait to see how they do.
