Anita Manning is an antique expert and television personality from Scotland. Manning rose to fame as an expert and presenter on the BBC’s Bargain Hunt, Flog It!, and the Antiques Road Trip in 2010.

She began her antique career in the 1970s after purchasing a bed from an Irish vendor. He gave her a position as a buyer after remarking on what a great trade it was to be surrounded by beautiful goods.

She spent three years buying and selling furniture in England and Ireland after her first trip to Glasgow, Scotland, as a buyer. They started a business together when her daughter Lala Manning graduated from high school. With just three employees and her mother’s antique knowledge, they started Great Western Auctions in 1989.

It has steadily grown into one of Scotland’s largest independent auctioneers. Manning was the first woman auctioneer in Scotland.

On the Antiques Road Trip in 2016, Manning set a new record for the highest profit on a single item. She made a 7,500 percent profit on a Buddha statue she bought for £50. Anita worked as a teacher before marrying and having children. At Aberdeen and Edinburgh, she studied Physical Education with a focus on Dance. Anita and her family currently live in Glasgow, Scotland.
