Ingredients

  • 8 pieces slider buns soft, pillowy buns
  • 1/4 cup honey thick, amber sweetness
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard sharp, piquant flavor
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter adds richness and golden color
  • 10-12 slices honey-glazed ham juicy, tender slices
  • 4 slices cheddar or Swiss cheese optional, for melty goodness

Equipment

  • Baking dish
  • Basting brush
  • Sharp knife
  • Parchment-lined baking sheet

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking dish with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Slice the slider buns in half horizontally, keeping the top and bottom connected for easy assembly. Arrange the bottom halves in the prepared dish.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, Dijon mustard, and melted butter until smooth. The mixture should be glossy and fragrant with a tangy sweetness.
  4. Spread a generous layer of the honey mustard glaze over the cut side of each bun bottom, covering evenly and creating a sticky, shiny surface.
  5. Layer slices of honey-glazed ham over the glazed buns, overlapping slightly to cover all the surface.
  6. If using cheese, place slices of cheddar or Swiss over the ham, allowing them to melt slightly during baking.
  7. Place the top halves of the buns over the layered ham and cheese. Brush the exposed top of the buns with a little more honey mustard glaze for a shiny, flavorful finish.
  8. Transfer the assembled sliders to the oven and bake uncovered for 12-15 minutes, until the buns are golden and the cheese (if used) is bubbly and melted.
  9. Once baked, remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the filling to set slightly.
  10. Slice between the buns to serve. For an extra shine, brush with a little more honey mustard glaze if desired, and enjoy your warm, bubbly sliders.
