In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let the mixture stand for about 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
Stir in the olive oil, garlic, basil, oregano, rosemary, salt, black pepper, and Parmesan cheese. Gradually add the bread flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. If using a stand mixer, knead with the dough hook for about 6 minutes.
Place the dough into a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 to 1½ hours.
Punch down the dough and shape it into a rustic round loaf or an oval loaf. Place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet or into a greased loaf pan.
Cover loosely and let the dough rise again for about 25 to 30 minutes while the oven preheats to 375°F (190°C).
Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese and parsley. Score the top with a sharp knife if desired.
Bake until the loaf is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom, about 28 to 32 minutes.
Transfer the bread to a wire rack and allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
