- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and line two cake pans with parchment paper.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

- Cream Butter & Sugar: In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Eggs & Banana: Add eggs one at a time, then mix in mashed bananas and vanilla extract until smooth.

- Combine Wet & Dry: Add dry ingredients in two parts alternating with buttermilk, mixing just until combined.

- Add Chocolate Chips: Fold in chocolate chips evenly into the batter.

- Fill Pans: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

- Bake Cake: Bake for 30–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

- Cool Cakes: Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Make Frosting:
- Beat Butter: Beat softened butter until smooth and creamy.
- Add Caramel & Vanilla: Mix in caramel sauce, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Add Sugar: Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until combined.

- Adjust Consistency: Add milk or cream as needed and beat until light and fluffy.
Assemble Cake:
- Layer Cake: Place one cake layer on a plate and spread frosting evenly on top.

- Add Second Layer: Place the second cake layer on top.

- Frost Cake: Spread remaining frosting over the top and sides.

- Garnish: Top with chocolate chips, banana chips, or drizzle caramel if desired.
