Sofi.a eaa (Spanish: [sofi.a eaa]; born July 10, 1972) is a Colombian-American actress and model. From 2013 to 2020, Vergara was the highest-paid television actress in the United States.
In the late 1990s, Vergara rose to notoriety as the co-host of two Univision television shows. Chasing Papi was her first noteworthy English-language role (2003). Following that, she starred in Tyler Perry’s comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009), for which she received an ALMA Award nomination. She was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards, and eleven Screen Actors Guild Awards for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the ABC comedy series Modern Family, which she debuted in 2009.
Vergara also appeared in The Smurfs (2011), New Year’s Eve (2011), The Three Stooges (2012), Machete Kills (2013), and Fading Gigolo (2013), Chef (2014), and Hot Pursuit (2014). (2015). She also appeared in the animated films Happy Feet 2 (2011), Escape from Planet Earth (2013), and The Emoji Movie as a voice actress (2017). Early Life:
Vergara grew up in Barranquilla, Colombia, in a Roman Catholic family.
Her mother, Margarita Vergara de Vergara, was a stay-at-home mom, while her father, Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, was a meat industry cattle rancher. Her five brothers and several cousins all dubbed her “Toti.” Vergara began her studies in dentistry at the National University of Colombia for three years, but she dropped out two semesters before finishing to explore modeling other show business chances.
Rafael, her older brother, was assassinated in 1998 during a kidnapping attempt. Vergara went to the United States, living in Miami, Florida, in order to avoid being caught up in the upheaval that led to the murder. Sandra, her cousin, and adopted sister is a well-known American television actress.

The first look photographs for Netflix’s new series on Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco, often known as the “Cocaine Godmother,” have been revealed, and Sofia Vergara looks drastically transformed for the role.
The image is our first look at the new Griselda series, which is based on the true story of the famed Colombian drug lord who oversaw the Miami cocaine trade for the Medellin cartel between the 1980s and early 2000s.

Vergara plays the merciless Blanco, alongside two Narcos: Mexico stars Alberto Ammann and José Ziga, in the series, which was first announced in November.
