Gucci Mane (born Radric Delantic Davis on February 12, 1980) is an American rapper and record producer. In the 2000s and 2010s, he and fellow Atlanta-based rappers T.I. and Young Jeezy pioneered the hip hop style of trap music. Trap House was Gucci Mane’s debut album in 2005, followed by Hard to Kill in 2006. In 2007, he released his third studio album, Back to the Trap House.
For his fourth studio album, Gucci Mane released his first gold-certified album, The State vs. Radric Davis, following a run of critically and financially successful mixtapes. A number of new retail initiatives, including Everybody Looking (2016), were published during his stint in prison between 2014 and 2016.
Gucci Mane’s 2016 duet with Rae Sremmurd, “Black Beatles,” gave him his first US Billboard Hot 100 number-one hit. A number more albums have followed; Woptober II came out on October 18, 2019.
Over the course of his career, Gucci Mane has put out 14 studio albums and over seventy-one mixtapes. He started his own record label, 1017 Records, in 2007. In addition to the Weeknd, he’s collaborated with Drake, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Usher, Bruno Mars, and Selena Gomez. One of the most prominent underground rappers of the 2000s because of his mixtape releases and trap music has been dubbed an “avatar of East Atlanta” by the likes of Young Thug, Migos, and Rich Homie Quan.
