Rose first appeared in the lonelygirl15 video blogs in mid-2006 as Bree, a 16-year-old girl who went by the moniker lonelygirl15. The movie dealt with ordinary adolescent angst worries at first but quickly moved to a strange plot about her family’s secret, occult rituals. The series was an instant hit, swiftly becoming YouTube’s most subscribed channel, although there were suspicions about whether the clips were real or a publicity stunt.
The lonelygirl15 videos were shown to be a work of fiction after an investigation by the Los Angeles Times. A media frenzy ensued from September 2006 to September 2007, during which Rose and the lonelygirl15 founders rose to international notoriety and were interviewed by several publications and television programs.
