Early Life

Toby Keith Illness

Toby Keith Covel was born on July 8th, 1961 in Clinton, Oklahoma. Keith started playing music at a young age after being inspired by his grandmother’s dinner club musicians.

In the end, he turned to music after working in the oil industry and playing football in the USFL.

In the early 1990s, Toby traveled to Nashville and performed on the city’s famed Music Row. Many of the city’s record labels received copies of his demo tape. He returned to Oklahoma since there was little interest in his demo.

He had made a vow to himself that he would have a record deal in place by the time he was 30 or give up on his dreams of being a musician. Mercury Records executive heard about the Easy Money Band through an air hostess who had a copy of their demo cassette in her carry-on luggage. They signed him to a record deal because they were impressed with his voice.

On the country charts, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” Toby’s debut single from that year, peaked at number one. In addition, the song climbed to No. 100 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Should’ve Been a Cowboy” racked up more than three million radio airplay by the end of the 1990s. Even Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Achy Breaky Heart” couldn’t match the popularity of this song in the 1990s.

Toby Keith Opens Up About His Battle Against Stomach Cancer

On Sunday, country music star Toby Keith announced that he is battling stomach cancer. For the past six months, the 60-year-old artist has been undergoing therapy for the condition.

As Keith revealed in his letter, he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall. “I’ve been getting chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery for the past six months.” At this point, everything seems excellent. My body and mind need a break so that I can recharge and unwind.

Despite the fact that Keith will be taking some time off to recover and focus on his health, the singer has promised his fans that he will return to the stage as soon as he is ready.

I am eager to spend time with my loved ones.” The supporters, on the other hand, will see me soon enough. Awaiting eagerly: “

There were two performances booked on Keith’s official website in the coming weeks, including a performance at the Ohio State Fair on July 28.

People who purchased tickets to see Keith have been notified that the show will be postponed and refunds will be issued. From mid-July through the end of August, Keith was also planning to appear at a few more shows.

In 2006, Keith established the Toby Keith Foundation to help Oklahoma children battling cancer.

A new facility, “OK Kids Korral,” opened in 2014, which provides free accommodation for children and their families who are undergoing cancer treatment at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center, which is located in Keith’s hometown.
