Tom Youngs’s wife, the Tiffany, was a professional rugby player in England. A daughter named Maise was born to the couple two years after their wedding in 2012.
She was conceived in the year 1987.
When Youngs was diagnosed with cancer, her husband had to quit rugby so he could be at her side. Her husband and in-laws adored her.
A “heroic struggle” with sickness claimed Tiffany Youngs’ life on Wednesday, the wife of former Leicester Tigers team captain Tom Youngs.
Youngs was first diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2014 and went into remission in 2018 after undergoing various treatments. The hooker, who has made 215 appearances for Leicester, announced his retirement at the end of April after taking an extended leave of absence to care for his wife, Tiffany, in October.
‘Leicester Tigers are very saddened by the news that Tiffany Youngs has died away following her valiant struggle with illness,’ the club stated in a statement.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the Youngs and Sands families on behalf of the whole club.” Tiffany, may you rest in peace.
“The club has requested that the privacy of the Youngs and Sands families be respected at this time,” reads a statement from the club.
In order to be with his brother and sister-in-law, Ben Youngs, the England scrum-half, withdrew from the 2017 British and Irish Lions trip.
On a recent England Rugby podcast, Ben talked about how much he misses his older brother Tom, who he toured with the Lions in Australia in 2013. During the month of September, the two brothers will hold a combined testimonial banquet in London.
The most mentally tough guy I’ve ever encountered is him. Youngs stated, “To know him is to love him.” That he has dealt with problems and continues to deal with them straight on is tremendously inspiring.
Clubs from the Gallagher Premiership and United Rugby Championship paid respect to Tiffany on social media following Leicester’s announcement, with the Barbarians calling her an “inspirational lady”.
