Hilary was an English entrepreneur, businesswoman, and TV host. The businessman’s representative claims that Hilary, after a protracted illness, passed away in Morocco.

She started her haulage career at a young age after being born on March 10, 1957, in Bolton, Lancashire, and she made her first million within three years.

The Secret Millionaire, Dragons’ Den, and The Intern all featured her in starring roles, and she also appeared on the Loose Women panel later in her career.

After establishing the Pall-Ex freight network in 1996, she became wealthy.

Hilary, the head of a haulage company, was awarded a CBE in 2013 for her service to the transportation sector and to charitable causes.

Sickness of Hilary Devey

There has been no public confirmation of Hilary Devey’s illness or the severity of her condition.

Although, Hilary Devey’s health issues due to a stroke she had five years ago and the subsequent loss of brain tissue have been brought up before.

The businesswoman and former ‘Dragon’s Den contestant talked about the stroke that has left her fighting for her life in the intensive care unit.

When asked by ITV if she was feeling okay, she said, “I took two paracetamol and drank some water and went to bed.”

I woke up with a lot of discomforts the next day. Even though I’ve done it a thousand times before, I just couldn’t manage to get my bags packed for a work trip. “I really didn’t know what the problem was with me.”

A few hours later, Hilary said, her arm became “completely dead,” and her son called 911, fearing she suffered a stroke when she slumped in the shower.

I’ve got a third of my brain missing. “It took me six months to accept the extent of the damage caused by my stroke,” she said. I just didn’t have it in me to do anything.

I remember thinking, “I can’t do anything right now,” when I got home from the hospital and went into the bathroom, unsure of what to do because I didn’t know how to turn on the shower.

“It has taken a great deal of my life away from me; my vision is impaired to the point where I can no longer drive, and I have lost all sensation in my left hand and foot. however, I am relieved to report that my mobility is unimpaired.

Businesswoman added, “Leading up to this, I was OK — I was horse riding, establishing a business, and there was no family history of stroke whatsoever… yet I am a smoker.”

Since I realized how dangerous this was becoming, I cut much back.

Hillary sold her car and her house to start Palm-Ex in 1996, and she is now the owner of a multimillion-pound company empire. If you’re curious about what killed Hilary Devey, keep reading!

Hilary Devey Cause of death

In 2009, Hilary Devey had a hemorrhagic stroke and had trouble using her left side for over 5 months. In addition, she said that she had been a smoker for more than 40 years, which contributed to the presence of carcinogenic toxins in her body.

Unfortunately, there is nothing new to be found online about her illness. Her smoking history and the presence of carcinogenic markers in her blood suggest, however, that she may have suffered from lung or cervical cancer. This is not yet confirmed, however.

Pall-Ex, Devey’s network for transporting goods on pallets, is the source of her wealth. When it first opened its doors in 1996, Pall-Ex was the United Kingdom’s third distribution network dedicated to palletized goods.

A forerunner of the modern pallet network, Palletline developed this system in 1992 by adapting the tried-and-true hub-and-spoke paradigm for distributing express shipments.

Approximately 8,000 palletized packages pass through Pall-Leicestershire Ex’s hub every day, and the company has more than 90 network members. Its revenue was £92.1m in 2021, up from £76.6m in the previous year. Revenues in 2021 totaled £10.9 million.

While on the show The Secret Millionaire in 2008, Devey gave over £70,000 to the Back Door Music Project and the Syke Community Centre in Rochdale.

In March of 2010, she hosted a four-part Channel 5 documentary series titled The Business Inspector, in which she used her business knowledge and expertise to assist struggling small businesses in becoming successful, lucrative enterprises.

After James Caan left BBC Two’s Dragons’ Den in February 2011, Devey replaced him on the panel. Soon after, Devey revealed that she would be departing the show in June 2012 due to a two-year exclusive contract she had signed with Channel 4.

Hilary Devey’s Women at the Top, a miniseries co-produced by the Open University and BBC Two and hosted by Devey in September 2012, was her last show for BBC Two.

When Devey moved to Channel 4 in April 2013, he started hosting a new series called The Intern, a business documentary in which he granted three young people a weeklong trial in the job of their dreams.

A dramatic dip in ratings forced the network to move the remaining programs from their original Thursday 9 pm time slot to Wednesdays at 11 pm.

Filming for the new Devey-hosted Channel 4 show began in June 2014, after the presenter made the announcement on April 3. On June 9, 2015, Channel 4 debuted the series Running the Shop.

Devey first appeared on the ITV lunchtime talk show Loose Women on June 18, 2015, as a guest panelist; she then became a regular panelist on September 4, 2015. But on November 9th, she announced her departure from the program.
