The match between American Serena Williams and Estonian Annet Kontaveit at the US Open will take place at Arthur Ashe Stadium. There has been a lot of social media chatter about the game from happy fans.

Anett Kontaveit, an Estonian professional tennis player, is performing exceptionally well right now. She is ranked as highly as #2 by the Women’s Tennis Association.

When Annet achieved the highest national rating in Estonian tennis history, she became a pioneer. She also held the record for youngest Estonian champion in 2009.

What Is Anett Kontaveit Illness?

Anett had to pull out of the April WTA1000 tournaments in Madrid, Spain, because of a health issue. After that, Croatia’s Ana Konjuh moved in. However, she once again pushed back the start of the Eastbourne leg of the WTA Tour 500 by a week in June.

But this wasn’t the first time her health has prevented her from performing at peak capacity. She started the 2019 US Open on top, but a viral virus knocked her down to third place after she won the first two rounds. She could have won as she had in previous rounds, but she didn’t want to put her health at risk.

Fans, though, applaud her efforts to stay in the game no matter what. They appear to be disappointed, especially because she doesn’t share her backstory.

She shared with followers that she, too, was undergoing a minor operation to address the same health issue. However, she was reluctant to talk about it until she had completely processed what had happened to her.

The professional athlete was diagnosed with Corona and was found to be still recovering long after she had left the pandemic behind. She was the number two player in the world at the time.

While Kontaveit did return for the 2015 Fed Mug in Estonia, she was unable to give her all due to health problems she kept from her supporters.
