Tyler Oakley is now dating?
Tyler Oakley is dating Anthony Russo.
Tyler claims the couple met on the dating app “Bumble” and quickly clicked.
Through his social media accounts, the YouTuber freely professed his love for Anthony Russo, a product manager at Netflix.
According to Distractify, they met in 2018 using the dating app Bumble.
Oakley was the first to show the couple after they started dating. On September 9, 2018, he shared a photo with Russo from a wedding they both attended that weekend.
Later that year, on December 31, Russo tweeted a photo with Oakley, claiming that the YouTuber was the nicest thing that had happened to him that year. “The best part of 2018,” he said.
Both Oakley and Russo’s Instagram accounts were flooded with photos and posts highlighting one another in 2019. Despite this, their relationship appeared to be robust.
Now, fast forward to the present, and the two are rumored to be split since they haven’t been spotted posting anything relating to one another in quite some time.
Relationship Rumors with Adam Rippon
Oakley was thought to be dating Adam Rippon, who is openly gay.
After Rippon was featured in Oakley’s YouTube video on February 6, 2018, the two were first linked. The following day, the former figure skater also posted a photo with Oakley, and his provocative message drew a lot of attention.
The myth was quickly dispelled when Rippon revealed his connection with Jussi-Pekka Kajaala. In February 2021, they announced their engagement.
In addition to Rippon, Oakley was linked to musician Troye Sivan in 2014.
Tyler Oakley’s Rumored Relationships
Before dating Russo, Oakley was linked to Adam Rippon, a former American figure skater.
Oakley featured Rippon in his February 6, 2018, YouTube video, which sparked dating rumors. The rumors were sparked when the former skater posted a photo of himself with the YouTuber with a provocative remark.
“Daddy loves a winner,” Rippon writes in the caption.
All of the suspicions died down when Rippon declared his relationship with Jussi-Pekka Kajaala in February 2021. Oakley began dating Russo a few months afterward.
In addition to Oakley’s rumored relationship with Rippon, there were rumors in 2014 that he was dating Troye Sivan, an Australian singer-songwriter. However, there was no confirmation.
His Parents Supported Him After He Came out Of the Closet
Oakley came out of the closet in high school. He shared his sentiments with his pals, mother, and stepfather, all of whom respected and supported him.
But he was hesitant to tell his biological father the truth.
“My biological father was the final person I never told,” the YouTuber told People in March 2018. “I knew he came from a more conservative, religious culture that was less supportive of LGBT people.”
During dinner, his father broached the subject and inquired if he was gay. “Yes!” Oakley responded.
His father and stepmother, however, sought to teach him about religious topics after learning the truth, even offering to pay for conversion treatment.
With time, though, both father and son displayed tolerance and took the time to understand one another. Even his biological father and stepmother have come to embrace him for who he is now.
“I’m glad I was patient with him.” I’m delighted he took the time and effort because I don’t think it’s easy for a lot of parents straight away,” Oakley said.
Tyler Oakley’s Coming out As Gay Story
Tyler Oakley’s journey out of the closet began in high school. He came out in front of his friends, mother, and stepfather at the beginning. They were all quite supportive and respectful of his choices.
He merely had to open himself to his biological father. It wasn’t simple, though. “His father came from a more conservative upbringing, a more religious background, that leaned a little bit less tolerant of LGBT people,” Oakley told People in March 2018.
His father brought him over for dinner one night and questioned if he was gay. Oakley said “yes” without denying it. His father volunteered to pay for his conversion therapy after knowing the truth.
“I look back and I know that homophobia can truly mask itself as care,” Oakley remarked. And my father assumed that concern was from a place of love.”
Oakley turned down the alleged conversion therapy. He chose to console his father and stepmother instead. With the passage of time, his father came to understand and embrace his son for who he is. His connection with Oakley has significantly improved since then.
“I’m extremely glad I was patient with him,” he told People. I’m delighted he took the time and effort because I don’t think it’s that simple for a lot of parents straight away.”
