With the tragic announcement that this will be the third and final season of the popular show, Netflix has revealed that a new season of Ragnarok has been approved. Don’t get depressed, though.
We have all the information you require regarding the release date, the storyline, the cast announcements, and more for Ragnarok season 3.
The 2020 film Ragnarok is a contemporary retelling of Norse mythology that is set in the fictitious Norwegian town of Edda, which is being adversely affected by climate change and industrial pollution.
The fact that Magne (David Stakston), the young protagonist, is the reincarnation of Thor (no, it’s not connected to the MCU), aids him in his mission to confront those responsible for the disaster and the community is currently experiencing.
Spotted Release Date for Season 3 of Ragnarok
Although Ragnarok season 3’s official release date has not yet been announced, we anticipate it will happen somewhere in the second half of 2022. Seasons are released annually, as evidenced by the fact that season 1 debuted on Netflix on January 31, 2020, and season 2 followed on May 27, 2021.
The production for Ragnarok isn’t quite as intense as other shows with longer seasons because each season only has six episodes. If they act swiftly, Ragnarok should come to an end this year.
Season 3 cast speculation for Ragnarok
All of the major characters that were present at the conclusion of Ragnarok season 2 are quite likely to return for the third season. For the last season, it goes without saying that important characters Magne and his half-brother Laurits (Jonas Strand Gravli) will return.
In addition, we anticipate the return of Magne’s new allies from season 2, including the god’s Iman (Danu Sunth), Wotan (Bjrn Sundquist), and Harry (Benjamin Helstad), who are all likely to take part in the major battle. Additionally, Saxa (Theresa Frostad Eggesb), who supported Magne in the season 2 finale, appears to be joining them.
And of course, Ragnarok wouldn’t be Ragnarok without the evil Jutul clan. Due to an unfortunate conclusion in season 2, the apocalyptic giants will be without their commander, Vidar (Gísli Örn Garðarsson). But that is more than made up for by the evil that Fjor (Herman Tmmeraas) and Ran (Synnve Macody Lund) possess in their very bones.
The third and final season of Ragnarok is yet to come, so it is unknown what new characters will be presented, but given the extensive literature of Norse mythology, we’re sure there are a few more gods waiting to make themselves known.
Plot Speculation for Season 3 of Ragnarok
No official storyline details for Ragnarok season 3 have been revealed as of yet, but given that this is the final season and that Ragnarok basically refers to a tremendous war that results in the deaths of many gods, we anticipate some very definitive action is coming.
In Ragnarok season 2, with Laurits experimenting with the dark side, the distinctions between good and evil have undoubtedly become hazier (which makes sense, given he is the modern version of Loki, god of mischief). Similar to Saxa, who appeared to have sworn allegiance to Magne rather than the Jutul following a change of heart in the season 2 finale.
In the climactic scene, Laurits, who had felt betrayed by Magne, let loose the Jörmungandr, a kind of serpent that might kill Thor. In season 3, Magne will undoubtedly have his hands full dealing with the nasty Jutul family, Laurits, and now his dangerous new pet.
He will, fortunately, have the assistance of a large number of other gods that we met in season 2, and if Norse mythology is any indication, there may well be more to come.
Season 3 of Ragnarok trailer rumors
Sadly, there isn’t a trailer for Ragnarok season 3 yet. We may have to wait a bit for a trailer as production is still going on and there is currently no word on when it will be finished.
However, if our prediction of a late 2022 release date is accurate, a trailer will most likely be released in the coming months.
