One of Steve Carell’s top comedic projects on Netflix is called Space Force. On Netflix, Space Force is available in two seasons.

The bad news for all of the fans is that there will not be a third season of “Space Force.” Yes! The show was recently officially terminated, according to a Netflix update on April 29.

The Netflix comedy series Space Force is about working in a cubicle and was created by Greg Daniels and Steve Carell. Despite having a cast and crew that is incredibly talented, Space Force still seems to have plot and critical reception problems after two seasons in the franchise.

Has Space Force’s third season been renewed by Netflix?

According to Deadline, as of April 28th, there had still not been made a decision regarding Space Force’s future at Netflix. in an interview with Tracey Pakosta, the humour director at Netflix. According to the interview,

She (Pakosta) also acknowledged that no decisions have been made either Steve Carrell’s Space Force or Will Arnett’s Murderville remake.

That was swiftly updated the next day, on Friday, April 29th, with the information that Space Force had been cancelled and wouldn’t be making a third season.

Space Force season 3

Despite the show’s significant cost cutbacks, it was cancelled. As you may know, season 2’s production was shifted from Los Angeles to Vancouver in order to reduce expenses, and there was a change in the writer’s room. Additionally, the show’s 10 episodes were trimmed to 7.

Although the decreased budget could indicate that season 1 didn’t exactly live up to expectations, the series was given a second shot rather than being cancelled. It’s doubtful that a third entry will be made unless the programme can handle the numbers (more on this in a moment).

One encouraging sign for the future of the series is that the second season’s review consensus appears to be significantly more positive.

Also worth mentioning are the two Space Force season 2 videos that became immensely popular on TikTok. We’re talking about the “Fuck Microsoft” line, in which John Malkovich laments that Microsoft picked a particularly inconvenient time to perform an auto-update.

Over 40 million people have watched three of the most popular videos from that incident.

What caused Netflix to cancel Space Force?

There won’t likely be any fervent fan movements to save Space Force, unlike some of the other shows Netflix has cancelled. The kind of viewership statistics that Netflix wants for its series were difficult to come by in Season 2.

Space Force season 3

The second season only briefly appeared at No. 8 on the streaming original Nielsen charts before moving up to No. 7, according to Deadline. Following that, it briefly appeared in Netflix’s Daily Top 10, reaching a high of No. 5. Longer than any other season, the first one held the top spot.

This programme was expensive to produce, so it’s not unexpected that Netflix decided to terminate it following its most recent season’s underwhelming numbers. Along with Pretty Smart and Raising Dion, it was recently cancelled.

Who would have played the lead role in Space Force 3?

The first two seasons of the show featured a crowded cast that remained strong throughout, and it looks like the show would have lasted if all of the principal actors had returned.

Those people are Steve Carell (who plays General Naird), Diana Silvers (who plays Erin Naird), John Malkovich (who plays Dr Mallory), Ben Schwartz (who plays Tony Scarapiducci), Tawny Newsome (who plays Andrea Ali), Jimmy O Yang (who plays Dr Chan), and Don Lake (Brad).

Space Force season 3

By way of a video hookup, Patton Oswalt (who plays Captain Lancaster, an astronaut who lives alone on a spaceship between Earth and Mars after his mission was abandoned en route) joined the group as well. This sounds a little foreboding, doesn’t it?

One actor whose return caught our attention is Lisa Kudrow, who portrays Naird’s incarcerated soon-to-be ex-wife, Maggie. Maggie’s appearance on the show was minimal, appearing in only a handful of the season two episodes’ video calls, so we’ll never know what she did to go to jail in the first place.

There was really no reason for her to keep checking in after filing for divorce and with daughter Erin now flying solo as an adult. Though the persona might be an outside influence, Lisa’s tenure on the show appeared to be coming to an end.

What would be the plot of Season 3 of Space Force

Most of the characters are still where they were at the start of season 2 by the time it is through.

The majority of the characters have chosen to remain in Space Force because they have now received salary raises and the future of the military branch is assured.

It goes without saying that season 2 concludes on a cliffhanger with a large asteroid speeding toward Earth (yep, this is the same narrative of Netflix’s Don’t Look Up). Due to the Hawaiin telescope going online, the entire crew finds the asteroid.

They break out in song (singing Kokomo by The Beach Boys), which is a throwback to season 1, once the astronauts, scientists, and generals all notice the approaching asteroid and accept their imminent destiny.

Over the next month, we’ll keep this site updated while we wait for the new season’s viewing figures so we can more precisely forecast if it will return for a third season.
