‘No Good Nick’ is an American web series produced by Netflix, the world’s largest streaming service. The project was first announced on September 21, 2018, when Netflix said that they were working on a new comedy series with Andy Fickman as the director and David H. Steinberg as the writer and showrunner.
‘American Pie 2’, ‘Slackers,’ ‘National Lampoon’s Barely Legal,’ ‘American Pie Presents The Book of Love,’ and the popular animated American comedy ‘The Simpsons’ were all written by Steinberg. Given Steinberg’s literary background, it’s safe to assume that ‘No Good Nick’ would appeal to a wide audience.
Nicole (also known as Nick) is a 13-year-old girl who claims to be a distant relative and shows up on the doorsteps of an ordinary American household. So far, the show has had two seasons of success. But will there be a third season of No Good Nick? Here’s what we know about it so far.
No Good Nick Season 3 Release Date: When Will It Premiere?
Season 2 of ‘No Good Nick‘ debuted on August 5, 2019, exactly four months after season 1 debuted on April 15, 2019. ‘Netflix’ began experimenting with family house sitcoms a couple of years ago with the series ‘Fuller House,’ a sequel to the ‘TGIF’ show ‘Full House.’ ‘No Good Nick’ has Melissa Joan Hart, star of the ‘TGIF’ sitcom ‘Sabrina the Teenage Witch,’ and Sean Austin, star of ‘The Lord of the Rings and more recently ‘Stranger Things,’ as its lead duo.
In terms of the upcoming season, we have bad news for the fans. The show was canceled by Netflix on September 15, 2019. Many people were surprised by the decision, as the show had attracted a large number of admirers in a short period of time. At this point, all we can hope for is that the show be picked up by another network and the third season of ‘No Good Nick’ is produced. We’ll let you know if it happens.
No Good Nick Cast: Who’s in It?
In the series, Sienna Agudong, a multiple Young Entertainer and Young Artist Award winners portrays the eponymous character ‘Nick.’ Molly, the eldest Thompson child, is a student as well as an environmental activist with a large online following. Lauren Lindsey Donzis plays this part. Jeremy Thompson is the eldest Thompson child, a high-achieving high school sophomore who is wary of Nick. Kalama Epstein plays this part. Ed Thompson is the Thompson family’s father and a senior loan officer at a bank. Sean Astin plays this part. Melissa Joan Hart portrays Liz Thompson, the matriarch of the Thompson family and the owner of Crescendo Restaurant.
All of the aforementioned actors have a long history of acting in comedic roles. It was crucial to No Good Nick’s eventual success. Furthermore, as seen in ‘Modern Family,’ an ensemble cast working together is often the most effective method to achieve a good comedy.
No Good Nick Plot: What Is It About?
Nicole (Nick), a crafty street thief, comes to the doorsteps of a typical, naïve American family known as the Thompsons, claiming to be a distant relative. Nick’s true motivation is vengeance: she intends to enter the family structure, causing it to implode as a kind of retaliation for them ‘unknowingly wrecking her life.’ However, as she comes to know the family members and their personal issues, she develops compassion for them, causing a snag in her otherwise impenetrable plan to split the family apart.
On Take Our Children to Work Day, Ed takes Molly and Nick to the bank. Nick’s motive for defrauding Ed’s client makes Molly suspicious as she continues to charm and sometimes confronts anyone who gets in her way. In a flashback episode, we learn why Nick seeks vengeance on the Thompsons. Nick goes forward with her bank heist scheme in the end, but with nowhere to flee, she confronts Thompson and confesses.
Overall, the show hits the right notes with audiences thanks to its lighthearted subject matter and an ensemble cast of people who can do comedy with ease.
“Melissa Joan Hart and Sean Hart are beloved by millions of fans around the world, and we are delighted to bring them together as parents for the very first time…. we hope to entertain kids and families with heart, mystery, and a lot of fun when ‘No Good Nick’ comes to Netflix,” says Melissa Cobb, Vice-President of Netflix’s Kids and Family section.
