This year at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel Studios announced numerous new projects, including two Avengers films that would be released in 2025 row. Take a look at the Marvel Phase 5 release schedule right here!
Before The Kang Dynasty, the time-traveling villain Jonathan Majors originally debuted in Loki and is set to reappear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, we have The Kang Dynasty.
The Avengers will reunite six months later for Secret Wars, which will bring a conclusion to the Multiverse Saga, which spans phases four through six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The two-part mega event’s details are limited at this point, but fan conjecture is already rife about what all this could entail for our favorite characters. We’ve got all the latest information on Avengers: Secret Wars here.
Avengers: Secret Wars Release Date Confirmed
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the release date for Avengers: Secret Wars at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.
When it opens on May 2, 2025, six months after Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the summer movie season in 2025 will officially begin.
Who Could Be in The Cast for Avengers: Secret Wars?
The cast of Avengers: Secret Wars and The Kang Dynasty has yet to be announced by Marvel Studios, but several characters appear to be safe bets.
If Kang The Conqueror isn’t defeated at the end of the first film, it’s very likely that Jonathan Majors will reprise his role as the time-traveling villain in both films.
And in addition to these four, we may expect to see the rest of the Avengers, including the likes of Iron Man (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and Hulk (Benedict Cumberbatch) (Chris Hemsworth).
Even Marvel’s recently debuted Disney Plus characters like Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight and Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk could be introduced to the big screen in these movies.
We can’t count out more cameos from previous Marvel properties, such as Fox’s X-Men and Sony’s Spider-Man, considering that this picture will conclude what is being called The Multiverse Saga.
What’s the Plot of Avengers: Secret Wars?
The name “Secret Wars” might have frightened longtime Marvel fans. A Marvel Super Hero Secret Wars story from 1984-1985 by Jim Shooter and a more recent Secret Wars story by Jonathan Hickman serve as the basis for the film.
Both events take place on Battleworld, a planet where characters from across the Marvel multiverse have converged.
It is a common theme in both titles to bring together as many Marvel heroes as possible in one event.
During the Secret Wars in 1984-85, a cosmic entity known as the Beyonder kidnapped Marvel’s heroes and villains and forced them to fight on Battleworld, which he supplied with alien weapons.
The 2015 Secret Wars, on the other hand, was a bit different.
The 2015 Secret Wars included “incursions,” cataclysmic events in which two worlds meet, designed by Marvel to combine its mainstream canon with the parallel “Ultimate Marvel” universe.
Phase 4 of the MCU has been full of hints about Secret Wars. Marvel’s preoccupation with the multiverse has resulted in incursions being a well-known phenomenon, allowing the studio to use characters previously unavailable because they were controlled by rival companies.
In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Reed Richards, represented by John Krasinski, gave a lecture to MCU audiences on incursions.
The post-credits cameo of Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom in Spider-Man: No Way Home served as yet another huge clue to the upcoming Secret Wars.
Just before the movie goes dark, Eddie takes a sample of the alien symbiote with him and leaves it behind at a Mexican bar.
For an extraterrestrial sentient goo, the travel from Mexico City to New York City to infect Peter Parker is a walk in the park.
Readers of Marvel comics may recall that Spider-Man first acquired his infamous black suit during the Secret Wars events of 1984-1985.
The cover of Secret Wars #8 with Spider-Man in the black outfit is one of the most recognizable comic book covers of all time, according to some.
Even if Marvel designed the suit to increase the number of action figurines sold.
Secret Wars is no longer a secret, thanks to Marvel’s plans for Phase 5 of the MCU being disclosed at Comic-Con.
