Star Wars Controversy

Star Wars fans are recognized for their strong feelings regarding the franchise. Online trolls took things to a new level after the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi, shouting terrible, racial remarks at one of the show’s actors, Moses Ingram.

Ingram plays Reva Sevander, an Inquisitor, in the series. After Ingram recounted the stream of racist hatred she’s faced, the Star Wars franchise ramped up support for her on Monday.

Star Wars fans are now review-bombing Obi-Wan Kenobi as a result of the outrage. The specifications are as follows:

When it first came out, Obi-Wan Kenobi received a 71 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Following the racist outcry to Star Wars‘ official response to anti-Moses Ingram social media remarks, those levels have dropped to 57 percent in the last week.

Meanwhile, the series’ reviewer score has stayed relatively steady, with 87 percent acceptance. This isn’t the first time a Disney picture has received poor reviews.

Moon Knight received a scathing 1-star review on IMDB due to the premiere’s acknowledgment of the Armenian Genocide. Eternals’ inclusion of a homosexual kiss and LGBTQIA+ depiction also drew negative feedback.

Fan Reactions to The Controversy:

A social media user compared the show to the Star Wars prequels, claiming it was just as bad as usual, while another user, Tad G., called it “fan-fiction” and said it was “poorly written and directed.” “Don’t worry, it’ll hold up against the prequels.” “It’s a dumpster fire,” Josh exclaimed.

One of the most common, though scathing, critiques levied at this Disney+ series is that it has damaged one of the most iconic Star Wars characters. Another commenter, Vulgaris M, blasted the show for consistently portraying Obi-Wan as afraid.

He also called Moses Ingram’s Reva the “worst villain in the Star Wars universe,” accusing her of lacking acting ability. Vulgaris also argues that through Obi-Wan Kenobi’s story, Disney is quietly propagating its own views.

Will Obi-Wan Kenobi Suffer from This Review-Bombing:

Star Wars Controversy

It’s difficult to avoid review bombers when more people want to get their voices heard. The difficulty with this type of critique is that it frequently portrays a film or television show as bad for reasons unrelated to the plot or production.

This is typically a problem when creators continue to push the boundaries of inclusiveness, or when a large group of admirers causes a social media frenzy.

Many reasonable criticisms of Obi-Wan Kenobi have been made, particularly those directed against Ingram’s character Reva.

On the other hand, a rating of 57 percent is hardly indicative of a show that is breaking Disney+ viewership records.

The most serious drawback of this behavior is that it appears as if people aren’t enjoying the latest Star Wars episode, which has a “rotten” rating on RT.
