poppy playtime dev controversy

In response to recent controversy, Poppy Playtime Dev has issued a statement.

MOB Games CEO Zach Belanger has issued a statement addressing two recent controversies involving the game, Poppy Playtime and MOB Games. Playing as a survivor in an abandoned toy factory, players must avoid monstrous toys as they search for the missing workers. Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 is set to be released on May 5th, but Belanger has already spoken out against it.

Since its release, the Poppy Playtime series, like its fellow horror franchise Five Nights at Freddy’s, has been the subject of debate. From cuddly toys to animatronic animals, both of these series turn innocent icons into something bloodthirsty and harrowing.

As a result, even though Poppy Playtime contains frightening and violent content not suitable for children, many of them have gravitated toward it, particularly the game’s eponymous blue antagonist from the first installment.

Huggy Wuggy’s popularity has spread to social media, and as a result of the proliferation of jump scares and graphic imagery, police have issued warnings to parents about Poppy Playtime.

MOB Games has now released a statement from CEO Zach Belanger on Twitter, which addresses two more controversies surrounding the game. Back in December, MOB Games released a series of Poppy Playtime NFTs that was widely panned for burying the franchise’s backstory behind a paywall.

The Clean Air Task Force climate organization will reportedly receive all proceeds from the NFT collection as a response to the backlash. Verge, a game developed by Ekrcoaster, is at the center of another controversy surrounding Poppy Playtime. There have been “past drama” between Ekrcoaster and the YouTube channel Animation Sins, according to Belanger, and the majority of the MOB Games team is not involved.

MOB Games finally addressed these two controversies, allowing fans to focus on the new toys that will be introduced in Poppy Playtime Chapter 2. In contrast to Huggy Wuggy, who relentlessly pursued players through the Playtime Co. factory in the first chapter, Mommy Long Legs will be the focus of the series’ second chapter.

Surely the pink stretchy-limbed monster will give a frantic chase round the factory, and it appears that she will not be alone. Poppy Playtime Chapter 2’s Steam page mentions toys named Bunzo Bunny and PJ Pug-a-pillar as well as the enigmatic sunflower.

The NFT and Ekrcoaster controversies have hung over MOB Games for some time, but Poppy Playtime has quickly become a pop culture sensation. Zach Belanger, CEO of Poppy Playtime, is able to clear the air and herald the arrival of Chapter 2 by directly addressing these issues. Game players no longer have to worry about NFTs ruining their survival horror experience because of the series’ graphic content.
