‘Married at First Sight,’ often known as ‘MAFS,’ is a must-see when it comes to unique reality shows. It’s probable that the concept of reversing the marriage procedure is what piques the audience’s curiosity.
Every season, singles seeking marriage are paired with someone based on the advice of relationship experts. The planned couple marries on the first day of their meeting and then moves in together while they figure out who their new wives are.
The unscripted marriage series is a great source of entertainment. While some couples do find their happily-ever-after, the majority of couples must go through a hard patch in their relationship.
Alyssa Ellman and Chris Collette from Season 14 are an example of a partnership that displayed the disastrous consequences of such a relationship. Throughout their time on the show, the couple’s relationship provided lots of laughs and questions for the audience.
Alyssa and Chris’ Married at First Sight Journey
Alyssa Ellman, a 30-year-old social media manager from Boston, married Chris Collette, a 35-year-old realtor, in Season 14 of ‘Married at First Sight.’
While the series has seen its fair number of failed marriages, this one may have taken the cake. The two had been mixing like oil and water since the wedding day. Alyssa didn’t seem thrilled to be coming down the aisle to meet Chris, which her soon-to-be husband observed.
The rest of the marriage went on in the same way. Chris said that things were much worse off camera when the two went to city hall to get their marriage license on an episode of ‘Married at First Sight: Afterparty.’
His new wife appeared to be aloof and refused to give him her phone number. All of this may have been explained by shyness, but when the officiant asked the newlyweds to consent to the marriage, Alyssa’s feelings about the relationship were evident.
Chris told Keshia Knight Pulliam, host of “Married at First Sight: Afterparty,” “I said yes.” “She sat silently. She didn’t say anything. She’d previously signed the papers, but the officiant insisted on hearing the ‘I do,’ which she refused to pronounce.”
During the procedure, Alyssa was presumably talking to her lawyers and avoiding physical contact. Furthermore, Alyssa and Chris created reality television history by not spending their wedding night together.
Alyssa and Chris’ honeymoon was anything but pleasant after the horrific start. They were always at odds on a number of subjects.
When it came to moving in together after the wedding — something that most couples take for granted – the two seemed to be on completely separate paths. Though Chris had no objections to moving in with his new partner, Alyssa stated her reservations about sharing a living space with him.
Chris and the program producers did not appear amused by Alyssa’s notion of splitting time in their flat, with one of them living alone for weeks.
The husband also spoke with his sister about the situation, unsure of what he could do to address it. What went wrong after such a bad start? Were the two of them able to get past it? Here’s everything you need to know!
Are Alyssa and Chris Still Married?
Alyssa Ellman and Chris Collette may have had one of the shortest weddings in the show’s history. The couple’s eight-week journey on the show came to an end after ten days.
Chris had had enough of the fight over their living circumstances. “Alyssa has had no interest in marrying me since the wedding night,” Chris explained to Pastor Cal. “She claims we aren’t compatible.”
She’s used the word “robbed”… It all began the night of the wedding.” Chris stated, “This is my Decision Day.” “I’m ready for a divorce.”
Shortly after Chris’ heart-to-heart with Pastor Cal, the pair left the social experiment. Chris said on the reunion episode that if he had realized the scope of what was going on behind his back, he would have left even sooner.
The realtor could have been alluding to his ex-remarks wife’s about him, which were recorded and later revealed to him. While Alyssa emphasized that she came on the show for the right reasons, she later expressed regret for what she said before.
Alyssa stated that while she wasn’t drawn to Chris, it was what his groomsmen told her about him that sent her into a tailspin.
Her new spouse was warned that he could come across as condescending, which she saw as a significant red flag. Alyssa also believed that she and Chris didn’t share the same values and interests. She regretted her actions, though, as she had no intention of hurting Chris.
Despite what Alyssa and Chris thought of each other, the couple is no longer married and has ended their relationship for good. Their time on the show was brief, but it was unforgettable.
The pair’s sheer drama and turmoil will not be forgotten anytime soon. We wish them both the best in their lives, regardless of the outcome, and hope they find what they’re looking for.
