Taraji P. Henson Reveals She's Contemplating Moving Abroad

Taraji P. Henson might soon be calling herself an “expat.”

PEOPLE has learned that actress and Minions: The Rise of Gru voice actor Mindy Kaling is considering leaving the United States before her return to hosting the BET Awards on Sunday.

After being asked about how she’s been coping with the current political and social atmosphere in America, she answers, “I’m actually considering getting up out here and going and living in another country.”. “With age, you begin to lose interest in battling. I’ve had enough.”

Her exhaustion comes from the “pressures of being Black,” as well as the continuous American struggle for justice and peace. “All I want to do is skip another hashtag. I battled, chanted, and marched. I’m worn out.”

Henson, 51, envisions a simpler existence in her new home away from home. ‘I want to go somewhere neutral,’ she replies. “I simply want to be. And be content. Every day, I want to be referred to as “Bella,” sip wine, and swat flies off the porch. Stress-free.”

At this point in her life and profession, she thinks she has earned this great circumstance.

“Suddenly, all of your f—-s are behind you when you reach the age of 50. I’ve done a great deal, and I intend to carry on with my plans.” She goes on to remark, “When I say, “I’m quitting, and I’m going to tour the globe,” I can do it. It feels so liberating.”

Despite this, she still has a few aspirations for her professional future. Jesse Henson, who voices Belle Bottom in Minions: The Rise of Gru (out July 1), says he’s always wanted to play a bad guy. “There is still a part of me that longs to play a Marvel villain, but I’m content to play Belle Bottom. I like her because she’s jazzy and has an enormous afro.”

Henson hasn’t officially surrendered her American passport, but the BET anchor says she’s looking forward to an international girls’ trip following her hosting responsibilities on the network.
