Phil began his acting career in New York City after graduating from college in 1981. The production side of entertainment, particularly television, eventually drew him into its folds. Coach and “Baby Talk” were two of the first shows that earned him producer honors.

Later, Phil went on to create “Everybody Loves Raymond,” his most popular show to date. Due to Rosenthal’s connection with Ray Romano, who co-produced the series, it was able to produce the series. Phil’s wife Monica Horan played a key role in the series, which was highly influenced by Ray’s comedic work. Despite the creative flexibility granted to Ray Romano, Phil played an important role behind the scenes and penned or co-wrote the scripts for about 20 episodes of the show.
