Apple Stock Ownership
When Beats was sold to Apple, $400 million of the $3 billion purchase price was paid in Apple shares, as we previously noted. As a 25% stakeholder, Dre received $100 million in Apple stock.
When the sale was completed, Apple was trading at roughly $95 per share, so it received about 1 million shares. Apple’s stock is currently selling at much above $200.
Dre’s Apple stock is now worth $200 million if he has kept all 1 million shares before taxes.
