Britney Spears’ estranged father is requesting that his daughter appears in court for another deposition, this time against his will.
Apparently, Jamie Spears’ legal team has no intention of backing down, as they want Britney to go down and answer questions under oath concerning her abuse charges regarding her dad’s role in her near-14-year conservatorship.
Besides accusing Jamie of making her work, forcing her to take medicine, taking away her right to drive, and eavesdropping on her mobile phone, the princess of pop said that he wouldn’t allow her to see her friends’ family when she wanted.
When she made headlines this summer by testifying in court, she also revealed that she feels Jamie mishandled her money and even paid her ex-business managers to the tune of $300k+ while serving as the conservator of her estate.
However, the musician has denied Jamie’s attempts to have her deposed, claiming the lawyer is seeking to exact revenge on her. Mathew Rosengart, Britney’s legal counsel, believes Jamie only made the request after his daughter demanded he answers questions under oath.
It was made clear in his latest motion that the 70-year-daughter old’s must appear for a depo under California law, according to the father. If Jamie had his way, Britney wouldn’t have to go through what he’s going through.
Jamie, on the other hand, is confident that he has the right to summon Britney to testify in order to “show with admissible proof that Britney’s charges are inaccurate and dispel Britney’s accusations regarding the management of her estate.”
He also slammed the “Toxic” singer for writing about his alleged wrongdoings on Instagram, saying that because she made the charges public, he has a right to question her.
The case is still pending before a judge.
Two months after Jamie Spears stepped down as Britney’s estate conservator, the conservatorship over Britney’s assets ended in November 2021. In addition to her father, the mother of two has accused the rest of her renowned family of profiting from her popularity while she was in a legal bind.
