Ashley Judd Family Feud: The Sad History Of The Judd Family

They are one of country music’s most mysterious families, with another member on Hollywood’s A-List to boot. Wynonna and Naomi Judd, known collectively as “The Judds,” were one of the most popular country acts of the 1980s. The living legends were even honoured with a showcase in the Country Music Hall of Fame, but it wasn’t all cowboy boots and love songs. Then there’s Ashley Judd, the Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actress who became a vocal advocate and supporter of the #MeToo movement.

The lives of the Judds are an ever-evolving story of perseverance, a true testament to human strength that began long before fame. Through interviews and memoirs over the years, they’ve shared their emotional turmoil (or, in the less fortunate cases, it was caught by the tabloids). One thing is certain: the Judds have always come out swinging. The Judds’ story is a sad and tragic one.

Ashley Judd and her sister Wynonna Judd are at odds over spying allegations, and the actress is speaking out about it — but only to tell us not to bother ourselves.

According to a Franklin, Tennessee, police report, Ashley told cops she suspected her sister planted the GPS device on her car during a custody dispute over Wynonna’s teen daughter.

According to the report, “it is believed that the device was placed there to track their movement.”

Ashley’s Mini Cooper was taken to a local mechanic shop in early November, where they were asked to look for any kind of tracking device. According to the police report, workers discovered a large plastic box on the back passenger side.

Janice Diane Swafford-Holt, a private investigator, was registered to the GPS device. Wynonna’s attorney later contacted police and admitted the singer asked the private investigator to purchase the device, which was later installed by her ex-husband Arch Kelley — the girl in question’s father — who has denied any involvement.

Although no charges have been filed and the case is currently closed pending further leads, one cop is already feeling the consequences. Deputy Chief Mike Jordan has been suspended on suspicion of leaking sensitive case information to the media.

Ashley, who has remained silent on the matter until now, felt that was too far. Today, she made a statement on her website.

“The issue at hand is the illegal invasion of my privacy in that a tracking device was secretly and illegally placed on my vehicle,” she wrote. “I naturally filed a police report, as any citizen would and should, for my safety and the safety of everyone around me.”

“Unfortunately, in their attempt to create salacious and divisive ‘news,’ the media is aggressively pursuing and publishing details, some of which should be private and confidential, such as my cellphone number.” Our police station and town hall are being bombarded with phone calls and emails, diverting them from their primary responsibilities in law enforcement and civic management, and taxpayer dollars are being squandered. A very good career detective has been suspended due to a lapse in judgment in which he succumbed to media intrusion.”

“It is my responsibility, as well as everyone else’s, to take routine action when a law is broken.” I hope that law enforcement officers can continue to do their jobs in the face of media speculation, pressure, and bad behavior. “I appreciate it.”

Wynonna hasn’t responded directly to the allegations, but she did send out this telling tweet earlier this week.

Ashley Judd’s harrowing childhood

Ashley Judd‘s 2011 memoir All That is Bitter & Sweet, in which she recounted numerous incidents of abuse she endured, opened the door to a painful and disturbing past.

Judd claims that she was “sexually abused by a family member” as a child, according to excerpts from the book published by Today. She was also raped while pursuing a modeling career in Japan at the age of 15 after being taken advantage of by “a creepy Frenchman.” Following that, “an adult male model who lived above her” attempted to force himself on her until she “was able to persuade him to stop.”

Judd also claimed that her mother and stepfather, Larry Strickland, acted “wildly sexually inappropriately” in front of her and her sister when they were children. “I now understand that this is referred to as covert sexual abuse,” Judd wrote. Judd considered suicide in her adolescence as a result of this.

Ashley’s mother Naomi and sister Wynonna have both admitted to being sexually abused by men in their lives in the time since her damning revelations.

If you or someone you know is contemplating suicide, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or text HOME to the Crisis Text Line at 741741.

Wynonna Judd’s husband committed a shocking crime

Wynonna‘s life changed forever in 2007 when she learned that her second husband, D.R. Roach, had been arrested on child sex assault and battery charges. The couple had been married for only four years at the time.

“When it happened, my first reaction was, ‘I am a mother first and foremost,'” Wynnona told Ladies’ Home Journal (via People) after learning the shocking details. Despite the news, Wynonna had a good idea of the type of man she was marrying. She made an astonishing admission, saying, “I was aware of what I was getting myself into and attempted to avoid it.

When I married Roach, I was already aware that we both struggled with addiction. My life is well known to me. I know why I chose the people I did, and I truly believed that by loving them enough, I could change people’s lives. That is not the way it works.” Wynonna requested a divorce five days after Roach’s arrest. That single action, she claims, “blew the door open to my soul.”

Wynonna gave an update on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2010. She admitted to knowing Roach’s victim and explained that the family’s healing process had begun. “They’re going through the [healing] process, and it’s none of my business,” she told Oprah (via CNN). “It was either that or I would have died if I hadn’t separated from it. I had to literally place them at Jesus’ feet, both physically and emotionally and spiritually.”

Roach, she adds, was in rehab. “He’s sober now, and that’s all that matters,” she explained. In her personal life, she’s gotten rid of everything that reminded her of Roach. “I haven’t forgotten,” she said, “but I have forgiven.” “I’ve done everything I’ve possibly been able to do. I don’t want to see him die or anything. I just wish I could be one of those people who doesn’t let that define their lives.”

Naomi Judd suffers from a mental illness that has rendered her unable to work

Naomi Judd‘s life hasn’t been easy, despite her fame and country-music glory. She admitted to having terrible depression in 2016.

Naomi, 70, told Good Morning America, “What I’ve been through has been extreme.” “I was eventually diagnosed with severe depression.” According to her, the mental illness is so severe that no treatment or medication will help. “They tried me on everything they had in their arsenal,” Naomi explained. “It felt like, if I live through this, I want someone to see that they can survive.”

Naomi claims that there were times when she’d come home from the road and be confined to her house for weeks on end, ignoring the life she’d worked so hard to build. “They see me in rhinestones, you know, with glitter in my hair, and that’s who I am,” she explained. “But then I’d come home and not leave the house for three weeks, never changing out of my pajamas, and not practicing normal hygiene. It was horrendous.”

As if that wasn’t bad enough, treating her mental illness has had a physical toll on her. Her face swelled and her hands shook as a result of the years of treatment and medication.

The husband of Wynonna Judd was killed in a motorcycle accident

Wynonna Judd and her husband-turned-drummer Michael Scott “Cactus” Moser faced the unthinkable in 2012: a car accident that nearly took Moser’s life. Before their concert in Deadwood, South Dakota, the couple went on a motorcycle ride, according to CNN. Moser “collided with an oncoming vehicle” while they were riding separate bikes. His “left leg was severed at the scene of the accident,” so he was taken to the hospital, where doctors had to amputate the rest of his leg “above the knee.”

Wynonna described her ordeal in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “When I return, he’s just lying there, and I don’t hear anything. And then I heard the most beautiful sound on Earth, which is him going [deep breaths] “she explained Wynonna’s tour resumed less than a month after the accident, according to Billboard. Her husband reappeared on stage about 15 months later. “You lose your leg one day, and the next day you go on tour,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

Have the Judds moved forward?

The Judds have clearly been through a lot in their lives over the years. Ashley, in fact, was so fed up with it as a child that she wanted to get as far away from Naomi and Wynonna as possible, according to The Telegraph. “I was ready to blow out of town and start in the Peace Corps or bail on that and go to Hollywood, which was my secret dream,” she said. As we all know, she chose the latter, but it appears that the family has formed a strong bond in recent years.

Naomi told OWN in 2016 of her relationship with Ashley, “It’s interesting how time changes things.” “Our relationship is so good because she comes in the back door, plops down on the kitchen couch, and she’s telling us everything that’s going on… she got up and got ready to leave, and she said, ‘This is my happy place… as long as you guys are right here, this is my favorite place in the world.'”
