The Weeknd had to cancel his Toronto show on Friday due to a widespread wireless outage.

Rogers Centre in his hometown was supposed to be the kickoff point for his After Hours til Dawn tour, but a network outage at the country’s dominant telecommunications company Rogers Wireless sent Canadians into a frenzy as millions of people were left without internet access, and the services it supports, such as banking and transportation.

The Weeknd event planned for this evening at Rogers Centre will be postponed as the venue’s operations and infrastructure are not possible until full service is back,” Live Nation Ontario said in a statement Friday night.

Singer of “Earned It” has also taken to Instagram Stories to express his shock and sadness over the news, calling himself “crushed” and “heartbroken.”

He stated in his Story, “Been at the venue all day but it’s out of our hands because of the Rogers outage.”

“As a result, operations and safety have been severely impacted, but I’ve done my best. This is the most difficult, and we will do everything we can to put on the show, but it will have to wait for another night.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I’m grateful for all the time and effort you’ve put in to get it here. I can’t wait to see everyone.”

It was especially harsh on one small fan. The Weeknd’s Super Bowl attire inspired a Twitter user to publish a picture of a little boy dressed in it.

The individual who sent the image to Twitter wrote: “SOUND OF CRYING FROM A LITTLE BOY I’m unable to do this at this time.”

“Can someone please find him for me?” the singer pleaded.

According to Reuters, the statewide wireless outage lasted an incredible 19 hours. A power outage affected millions of people, resulting in the closure of banks, transportation services, and government agencies.

According to police, some homeowners were unable to dial 911 for help.

In a statement, Tony Staffieri, president, and CEO of Rogers said: “I’m sorry for the disappointment we’ve caused you. We can and will improve our performance.”

There is no evidence to support this claim, according to a government official interviewed by Reuters.

As previously mentioned, The Weeknd will be performing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 14th at Lincoln Financial Field.
