On February 28, 2021, Ricardo González Gutiérrez went to the emergency room of a hospital in Naucalpan, Mexico, complaining of severe back pain. After nine hours of surgery, he appeared to be doing fine and even got a visit from ′′Rey Grupero (Luis Alberto Ordaz).
In spite of this, on March 7 he experienced chest symptoms and was brought to the intensive care unit, where he was placed on a ventilator. Cepilln passed away on March 8, 2021, at the age of 75 from spine cancer. Ricardo González Jr. said that his father suffered a respiratory arrest from which the physicians were able to “bring him out,” but that “he was already severely degraded” and had a failed kidney.
Cepillin Career
Cepillin, a former dentist, would paint his face in cartoonish forms so his young patients wouldn’t be afraid of him. He then decided to focus on children’s entertainment because that was where his passions lay.
Thus began the journey that would lead him to become a huge TV personality through albums of children’s songs. After having two children, Cepillin made sure to take them along on his tours, helping to make them stars in their own right.
